We Receive Our Mission Call

On June 12, 2016, we received our mission call to serve in the Family and Church History Headquarters Mission as Interpreter Supervisors in Salt Lake City, Utah, beginning the 8th of August and serving for 18 months.  Unlike our first call to the Caribbean Area when we didn't put any suggestions about where we would serve, this time we did request Salt Lake City.  We were so excited about this new adventure.  We had no idea what was going to be involved, but we were intrigued by the assignment.
The next month was such a busy one trying to get everything packed up, find renters for our home, and putting everything into storage.  We didn't think we could do it all, but we did. We could never have made the actual move without all the help from the folks in our Sugar Hill Ward.  We just feel badly that we didn't get a photo of them or the move itself...

On our mission to the Caribbean, we only had to pack clothes for one season, but this time, we needed both winter and summer - things like coats and boots take lots of room as you know.   Fortunately, Bryan had us send two big suitcases via FedEx, and the car was stuffed with so much - our printer and scanner, clothes of course, things we were bringing out to family, etc. But we learned that another couple in our group also rented a small trailer to haul other things that they wanted to have here!
We planned on spending three days to make the drive, but ended up doing it in two. Frequently, when one of us was driving, the other one would take a nap.  We had some great books on Audible to listen to as well. There wasn't a lot to see between Atlanta and Salt Lake City, so we just drove...
